Maddie Lowe, M.S., LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of South Carolina. I have a passion to help individuals thrive and understand themselves on a deeper and more intimate level. I believe that self-awareness is the key to change.

Along with being an LPC, I am also a certified Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist and enjoy incorporating the role horses can play in an individual's healing journey. I have found that some individuals do not respond well to an office setting, so I aim to provide other therapeutic settings, whether that is with the horses or at the goat farm.

I hold an M.S. in Clinical Counseling from Charleston Southern University. I earned my B.A. in General Psychology from the University of North Carolina Asheville, where I also competed in cross-country and track at the Division-1 level. I am currently earning my Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies through Regent University.

I have worked with a variety of populations, but especially enjoy working with children, teens, young adult women, and families. I have spent many years as an Early Interventionist, and I continue to find a passion in helping parents navigate the world of parenthood.

I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with OCD, ADHD, anxiety/depression, relationship conflict, eating disorders, and low self-esteem. I also provide a specific focus on children and teens needing help in navigating through trauma and loss, social and peer stressors, and are struggling with difficult life and family transitions, and interpersonal conflict.

Therapeutic Approach
When it comes to life, every person brings their own unique experiences, perspectives, and feelings about themselves, others, and the world around them. Because of this, I approach therapy through an existential lens.
An existential perspective is grounded in the understanding that, while every person’s story is unique, we all face shared human experiences—questions of purpose, fears, and challenges that can often feel isolating. This approach helps clients recognize that they are not alone in their struggles, while also honoring their individuality. Together, we explore your personal experiences, both past and present, to cultivate a sense of freedom, responsibility, and the ability to create deeper meaning and well-being in your life.
While existential therapy provides a framework for understanding your life story, it is not a specific intervention. To support your growth, I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs. These may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
